Child support laws are similar across the country, but each state has its own rules on calculations that can trip up family law attorneys who use generic software. Easy Soft produces state-specific applications, such as our Pennsylvania child support calculator, which address the unique requirements of each state.
We designed EzSupport-PA to follow Pennsylvania Rules of Civil Procedure Chapter 1910, which are the laws covering PA child support calculation. Special considerations and documentation requirements contained in those rules are automatically included in the preparation of child support forms.
Our Pennsylvania child support calculator figures the child support obligation automatically from data entered regarding each parent’s income, custodial obligation and other factors. If any information is updated, the child support calculator automatically adjusts the child support obligation if necessary. Easy Soft’s Pennsylvania family law software can handle situations with any level of monthly income and any number of children by using the guidelines laid out in Court Rules 1910.16-3 through 1910.16-4.
According to Pennsylvania child support guidelines, support can be adjusted for a host of other factors in order to come up with an amount that is fair to both parties and, most importantly, ensures the child receives needed care. As in most states there are adjustments for childcare or private school expenses but there are a few adjustments under Pennsylvania law that not all states include.
As an example, under PA child support calculation rules public assistance, Supplemental Security Income and foster care payments for other children are not counted as income in support calculations. However if the child is receiving Social Security benefits due to a parent’s death, disability or retirement, those payments must be included in the income of the custodial parent.
EzSupport-PA covers not only child support calculation but also documentation requirements. For instance, Pennsylvania requires Insurance Certification under Court Rule 1910.27(d). The certification form can be included under Attachments and then printed out as part of the package of PA child support forms.
State-by-state differences in child support rules may be small, but overlooking the details may not get your client the level support allowed under law. Use Easy Soft’s Pennsylvania family law software to ensure the case is settled fairly.

If legislatures were lawyer-friendly, they would develop one, comprehensive form for the universal data of every divorce case.
Instead, lawyers, paralegals, secretaries, and parties must fill in numerous forms, containing largely repetitive information. Name of each party, Name of each child, Date of birth and Social Security Numbers for all. From captions to signature lines, the repetition of data in divorce cases is mind-numbing.
Fortunately, what the legislatures won’t do, Easy Soft has done, and that’s eliminate the repetition. With Easy Soft’s divorce settlement program, only once do you have to input core information for each case. This divorce settlement software populates all the repetitions of the same information into each one of the different forms.
Let’s take an example from the Arizona family law forms program. This divorce settlement program generates all of its forms from a common set of data. You only have to enter once the information for the mother, father, children, addresses, date of marriage, attorneys, and other common data.
Then, you go to the family documents section, select the form you want to produce and this family law software will merge your data set into the selected form. If you haven’t filled in all the necessary fields, you’ll get a reminder from this family law program to complete the remaining information.
What do you do if you’re using Easy Soft’s Pennsylvania family law software, and ‘Michelle’ is misspelled ‘Michele’ or ‘Alan’ is misspelled ‘Allen?’ Instead of having to go line-by-line through each document, hoping that you’ll spot all the errors, simply go back to the family law program’s common document data set and make your correction in one field, one time. This universal correction feature saves you both time and money because “fix error” is not what any client wants to see as a billable time charge.
With Easy Soft’s divorce settlement software feature of single entry for commonly used data, you can stop repeating yourself and start efficiently moving your cases forward.
Make a $50 mistake in a bankruptcy case: that’s a one-time mistake. In a divorce settlement, the same mistake may cost your client—and his or her children—up to $50 per week, for years. That’s a cost you have to live with.
The solution is to be dead accurate every time. Right?
If you’re a divorce attorney practicing family law in Pennsylvania, you know that’s easier said than done. Pennsylvania divorce calculations are complicated. Even if you’re a bona fide math whiz (given that you went to law school, we’re guessing you’re not), computations for base figures—such as net disposable income or assets & liabilities distribution—can make your head spin.
But properly planned divorce settlements result in higher disposable incomes for both parties—and lower tax liabilities. Helping clients find a divorce settlement that minimizes their tax obligations is not only a matter of professional responsibility: it’s an economic reality.
On December 6, 2010, Easy Soft launched a software package to make things easy. EzSupport-PA, a Pennsylvania Family Law Software is designed for divorce lawyers—not CPAs or tax attorneys. Coupled with the Divorce Financials program, PA lawyers get every tool they need for their family law practice. The software:
- Captures all case information from the outset—and uses it to populate forms, statements, pleadings, and the like.
- Adjusts support calculation for shared parenting, multiple families, excess mortgages, and the like.
- Allows you to prepare multiple support scenarios, compare and pick the best option.
Once you’ve entered the information, our Pennsylvania divorce law softwaredoes the heavy lifting. The resulting worksheet details a variety of scenarios. For each scenario, it provides a statutorily precise bottom line: one number for spousal support, and another number for child support.
Easy—just like our name.
What’s more, the new Pennsylvania Family Law Software isn’t just a powerful divorce calculator: it provides you an opportunity to automate Pennsylvania family law forms, too. These include:
- Pleadings: Complaints. Answers. Claims. Counterclaims. Motions. Notices. Summons.
- Supporting Documentation: Income Statements. Expense Statements.
- Correspondence: Letters. Responses.
You can virtually add any type of form and use case data to auto populate your forms.
